Paralegal’s Salary

The salary of a paralegal varies depending on years of experience, education, training, the type and size of the employer, and the geographic location of the job. Paralegals typically make more working for larger law firms. They make less when they work for smaller firms which are located in less populated areas.

The pay range is between $27,450 and $67,540.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics your pay also varies depending on the type of firm you’re employed by. If you work for the federal government your average pay is $56,080. If you work for a management of companies and enterprises your average pay is $52,220. If you work for the local government your average pay is $42,170. If you work for legal services your average pay is $41,460. Finally, if you work for the state government your average pay is 38,020.

Some types of employers include, law firms, corporation legal departments, corporate legal departments, insurance companies, financial institutions, title agencies, real estate agencies, state government agencies, federal governmental agencies, courts, public defenders’, prosecutors’ offices, funded legal service projects, public utility companies, and community legal service programs.

In addition to the salary a paralegal makes they can receive bonuses. The bonuses can vary, they are usually between $2000 and $4000 dollars. They receive these bonuses due to the long hours they have to work. Paralegals also receive sick pay, vacation, life insurance, dental insurance, a 401 savings plan. Paralegals can also receive tuition reimbursement for continuing their legal education.
